“A picture is worth a thousand words” is an oft-stated apothegm. What if you could turn this aphorism around to read “A handful of words that ideate a thousand pictures”?
In this book, the author takes the reader through an odyssey in which the photographs become raconteurs as they narrate tales sometimes as the narrator and sometimes in the third person. The tales are presented in poetic form to incarnate the stories.
The book explores the demesne where the photographer and poet meet – a horizon which is no one’s bailiwick but where the mastery of photography converses with poetic imagery as they together, like a composer and lyricist, weave the melody and words to a song. So read to your heart’s delight and relish the photo-poetic adventure as you peregrinate from one scene to the next and see pictures come to life with a handful of words. The impresa of this poetic collectanea is a wordsmith who is depicted by a quill feather.

Haroon Awan

Dr Haroon Awan is one of the world’s leading unknown and abecedarian writers in prose and poetry!

He trained as an ophthalmologist and grew up and studied in Kenya.

Since 1990, he has been living in Pakistan where he established himself as a clinician. After several years in his ophthalmic profession, his professional interests transitioned toward policy, strategy, and programme development in the social sector. He has been working as a freelance consultant for over a decade now.

While pursuing his clinical career, he developed an interest in poetry and prose. His inclination in his writings could best be described to lie in the poetic domains of ‘Romanticism and Metaphysical’ and he makes ample use of imagery.

His debut book is titled: “My Beloved Country – Summer of ‘22”. It is a fictional compilation of twenty pieces of prose and poems and is a combination of solemn and satirical exposition.

This was followed by his second book titled: “Clouds of Hope”, which deals with the human emotions of love and loss. He analogizes his work to that of a paraglider who has mustered the courage to take his first jump and relishes how the fervor has buoyed him up as he soars and glides through this mystical kingdom of poesy.

In his third book titled: “Unveil Mysteries Anew”, he takes the reader through a photo-poetic cruise in which the photographs become raconteurs as they narrate tales sometimes as the narrator and sometimes in the third person. The tales are presented in poetic form to incarnate the stories.

His lifelong hobby is horology (study of clocks), and he has a proclivity for scenic photography by others.
